Panasonic To Launch First Consumer 3D Camcorder

29 July, 2010 A+  A-

Japanese electronics giant Panasonic yesterday announced that it would launch a 3D camcorder named the HDC-SDT750. The announcement means that very soon we will get the opportunity to bring the 3D technology into our living rooms.

Panasonic said that the device is the "world's first consumer 3D camcorder," which will come equipped with a lens adapter that can capture videos in 3D. The lens will record images for the left and right eyes simultaneously. The video will be recorded at 960 x 1080 pixels.

The camcorder can also shoot 1080p hi-def in AVHD. The HDC-SDT750 also features a Leica Dicomar lens, 12x optical zoom, and a Time Lapse recording video. The time lapse feature is an important thing as it allows the user to record videos at intervals of one second, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, one minute, or two minutes.

The HDC-SDT750 will come loaded with a built-in 5.1-channel audio system, which will record multi-directional sound using five built-in microphones. The camcorder will also have a Focus Microphone feature that will pick up more concentrated sound. "The microphones allow footage recorded in 3D to be enjoyed with lifelike and dynamic sounds," said Panasonic.

The camcorder will ship with its own video editing software, which will allow the users to edit 3D videos and keep them on Blu-Ray discs or DVDs. But the users will need to convert the videos to 2D before uploading them on the internet. The 3D videos can be played back on a number of 3D HDTV using an HDMI cable. The SDT750 is priced at $1,399.95 and it will ship in October.
